Causes, Removal, and Restoration of Mold Damage
Dallas mold damage remediation is no easy task, and for most homeowners, there can be much confusion about the process and equipment involved in mold remediation. Some homeowners may also not know how to identify the source of mold growth or even the true nature of the colony. SERVPRO can help to explain, repair, and remediate mold damage in your home, and neutralize the source of its growth.
What Causes Mold Damage?
Mold damage in Dallas is typically a result of a water leak somewhere in the home or a side effect from a recent damaging storm. Fungi require a damp, organic material base to grow on, making wall interiors and flooring which has been wet or dampened a prime target.
How Mold is Removed
The source of the moisture must be discovered and fixed. If not, the problem can return. Our AMRT applied microbial remediation technicians, certified by the IICRC, are fully qualified to utilize advanced equipment for the removal of visible mold colonies:
- sandpaper
- scrapers
- hand-help portable vacs
- pressurized media blasting with CO2 pellets or bicarbonate of soda
- erect containment barriers to prevent cross-contamination
Restoration
After most mold has been eliminated (removing all mold spores from a property is not just impossible but also unnatural), SERVPRO will begin the process of restoration and, if needed, replace any wall, floor, or fabric materials that may have been deemed unsalvageable. Materials such as carpeting, non-laminated wood, or tile grout are all commonly replaced materials. Don't worry too much about this: typically, only a section of the material will need to be entirely replaced.
