The Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is the largest certifier of businesses owned, controlled, and operated by women in the United States. WBENC provides its world class standard of certification to women-owned businesses in the United States. They foster diversity in the world of commerce. Diversity promotes innovation, opens new channels of revenue and creates partnerships which provide opportunities that fuel the economy.

Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program

The goal of the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program is to encourage and effectively promote the use of minority and woman-owned businesses in the Department's procurement activities. The DSHS HUB Program Office seeks to:

Ensure the Department complies with state law and administrative rules governing the HUB program.

Assist minority and woman-owned businesses in becoming certified as HUBs.

Share information regarding the Department's procurement policies and procedures.

Promote the use of HUBs in day-to-day procurement opportunities.

Assist in fostering relationships between prime contractors and HUBs through the Mentor Protégé Program.

Ensure that prime contractors make a good faith effort to provide subcontracting opportunities to HUBs.
